Aquis Young Guns On Fire

Mark Smith - Sunday November 6

A winner for Lean Mean Machine with his first runner and the exciting Brave Smash (JPN) two-year-old Brave Halo keeping his record at a perfect three for three made it a memorable day for Aquis Farm’s first-season stallions.

At Doomben on Saturday, the Chris Munce-trained Freeman made the perfect start to her career in the Pierata 1st Yearlings In 2023 (1110m).

With Samantha Collett in the saddle, Freeman defeated the Spirit Of Boom colt Boomster by a neck with a short-neck back to the favourite Mishani Raider (Jetspur), his fourth placing from as many starts.

Freeman a $240,000 Magic Millions yearling

Pinhooked by  Robyn Wise for $42,500 from the Erinvale Thoroughbreds draft at the Gold Coast National Weanling Sale, Freeman was the top-priced lot by her sire at the Gold Coast this year when snapped up by Munce Racing/Arthur Hoyeau for $240,000.

Freeman is the first foal of the Not A Single Doubt mare  Nashville Skyline, who was covered by Zoustar’s gifted son Lean Mean Machine again last spring.

Brave Halo enhanced his reputation as the best juvenile in the west this season when romping to a five-and-a-quarter length win over 1100m at Ascot.

Ridden by Keshaw Dhurun for Sean and Jake Casey, the son of Brave Smash, defeated I’m Out (Nostradamus) with Good Vibes (Capitalist) in third.

The only runner by dual Group 1 winner Brave Smash (JPN) seen out to date, Brave halo has propelled his sire to second on the first-season sires table.

Brave Halo has already just about wiped off his $135,000 purchase price by Hancock Quality Bloodstock (FBAA) from the Willow Park draft at the 2021 National Weanling Sale.

His dam, Danish Bingo (Sebring), has a yearling colt by Bellevue Hill and a colt foal by Admire Mars (JPN)
