Another Full Of Promise For Savabeel

Breednet - Sunday October 30

Waikato Stud’s champion sire Savabeel had a day to remember on Saturday, going top of the Australian sires list and on Sunday produced another one full of promise at Goulburn.

Saveadateforme came to notice at his second start when winning his maiden comfortably in heavy going at Kembla Grange but stepped up to 1600m by John O’Shea at Goulburn for his next start he was more than a class above.

Ridden off the pace by Chad Schofield he sprinted lengths clear from the 400m to 200m before being allowed to throttle down in the style of a horse that is likely to go on to significantly better grades.

Sold for $220,000 at NZB’s Karaka Book 1 to Go Bloodstock from the Waikato Stud draft, Saveadateforme is the fifth foal of three-time stakes winner and Group One placed Dating (O’Reilly).

Savabeel finished top 10 on the Australian General Sires list last season with Probabeel and Mo’unga the flagbearers but with I Wish I Win’s win in the $10million Golden Eagle on Saturday he vaulted straight to the top currently in this season.
