Annabel Neasham Leads the Charge on Day 3 at Tattersalls

Mark Smith - Thursday October 27

The Zaaki (GB) connection of Annabel Neasham and Stuart Boman's Blandford Bloodstock purchased the most expensive lot on Day 3 at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale.

Lot 1132 Fancy Man (IRE), a 4yo son of Pride Of Dubai, topped the session with a final bid of 675,000gns.

A dual Listed winner and multiple Group III placed, Fancy Man (IRE) has been an honest performer for Richard Hannon and most recently was beaten a neck by Hughie Morrison’s accomplished Fastnet Rock filly Stay Alert in the Group III Legacy Cup at Newbury.

A half-brother to stakes-placed Grey Wizard (Caravaggio), Fancy Man (IRE) is out of the Galileo mare Fancy.

Lot 1032 Chris Waller and Guy Mulcaster went to 310,000gns for Ralph Beckett’s progressive 3yo The Gadget Man (GB).

The son of Irish Derby hero Jack Hobbs has won two and placed in three of eight starts and most recently was a game third in the Heritage Hcp at York.

The Gadget Man (GB) is out of the stakes-placed Whipper mare Kallisha.

Lot 1086 Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott teamed up with McKeever Bloodstock to purchase Juddmonte Farm’s Frankel colt Special Envoy (GB) for 250,000gns.

The John & Thady Gosden-trained 3yo began the season promisingly enough with two wins at Windsor and seconds at Newmarket and Newbury, but his form tailed off in his final two appearances.

Frankel courts the best, and Special Envoy (GB) is a half-brother to the champion sprinter Marsha (Acclamation) and multiple Group III winner judicial (Iffraaj), out of the stakes-winning Marju mare Marlinka.

Lot 1159 Guy Mulcaster was back in business, shelling out 240,000gns for the Mehmas colt For Victory (IRE).

The 2yo colt made just four starts in France, winning at Toulouse finishing third at Deauville, Vichy, and in Listed stakes at Lyon Parilly.

For Victory (IRE) is a half-brother to five winners out of the Celtic Swing mare Kualke.

Lot 1098 Waller and Mulcaster were a long way from finished, picking up Juddmonte Farms Postponed colt Demarcay (GB) for 180,000gns.

A winner at Sanit-Cloud and placed three times in five starts, Demarcay (GB) failed at his only stakes attempt in a Group III at Chantilly.

The 3yo colt is out of the Frankel mare Europium who hails from Juddmonte’s famed matriarch Kerali.

Lot 1029 Snowden Racing / William Johnson Bloodstock hit the board with 170,000gns purchase Unspoken (IRE).

Another to contribute to an excellent season for Ralph Beckett, the 3yo son of Territories made just three starts for the year after winning twice at two.

Unspoken (IRE) headed to the sale after a hard-fought win over 10f at Doncaster on October 22. He is a half-brother to five winners lead by the stakes-winning Sepoy filly Sparkle ‘n’ Joy out of the Dubai Destination mare Silent Secret a half-sister to the Group III winning dam of Barney Roy and to the dam of the magnificent Gordon Lord Byron.

Lot 1099 Waller / Mulcaster took a fancy to another Juddmonte product, the Kingman colt Pervade (GB) for 140,000gns.

The 3yo colt has been a model of consistency in France this year with three wins and four placings from his eight starts.

Pervade is a son of the top-class Champs Elysees mare Suffused a multiple Group III winner and Group 1 placed half-sister to Logician and Collide.

Lot 1094 Malua Racing teamed up with Hurworth Bloodstock / McKeever to secure the Galileo colt Badge (GB) for 130,000gns.

Another from the Juddmonte collection, Badge (GB) was unfortunate to run into a future top liner in Onesto in a maiden at Chantilly.

He has won one and placed in three starts and received a big pedigree update when his brother Maximal ran second in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes.

Then again it may not have been such a big update as his stakes-winning dam is a sister to Frankel, Noble Mission, and Bullet Train.

Lot 1060 Import Racing / Price Kent / Farrington purchased the Dansili gelding Valley Forge for 100,00gns.

A homebred for George Strawbridge, the 4yo gelding is a 3-time winner and most recently finished fourth behind Gadget Man at Yarmouth.

Vallet Forge (GB) is one of five winners out of the Group III winning Slickly mare Lixirova.

Lot 1083 Can’t keep the dynamic duo Waller / Mulcaster out of the action for long, and they picked up the Lope De Vega colt Counter (GB) for 80,000gns.

The lightly raced 2yo colt placed in two of his three starts at Goodwood and Chelmsford.

His dam Riposte (Dansili) was a 3-time Group II winning half-sister to three notables in Powerscourt, Last Train, and Kind the dam of Frankel.

Lot 1063 Boomer Bloodstock entered the fray, outlaying 75,000gns for the Wootton Bassett gelding Wodeton (FR).

The Andrew Balding-trained 3yo won just one of his eight starts in 2022 and placed at Newmarket, Goodwood, and Epsom.

He is a half-brother to stakes-winner Salateen out of the 6-time winning Tobougg mare Amanda Carter.

Lot 1062 Blandford Bloodstock / Bennett Racing / Annabel Neasham Racing spent 75,000gns on the El Kabeir gelding Harrow (IRE).

Trained by Andrew Balding for Highclere, Harrow (IRE) came off a busy 2yo season in which he won three races highlighted by the valuable Weatherby’s Scientific at Doncaster and was third in the Group III Somerville Stakes at Newmarket won by Modern Games.

A son of the winning Invincible Spirit mare School Run from the family of Dream Ahead, Harrow (IRE) failed to win in seven starts this term.

Lot 1157 Australian Bloodstock / Ronald Rauscher secured the Kodiac gelding Rogue Bear (IRE) for 65,000gns.

A 3-time winner last year, the 4yo gelding has failed to win in five starts in 2022 although he started promisingly enough with placings at Doncaster, Newbury, and York for Tom Clover.

His dam Rancho Montoya (High Chaparral) is out of a sister to Group 1 winner Cherokee Rose.

Lot 920 Another buy for Australian Bloodstock / Ronald Rauscher was the Ribchester filly Keep Bidding (IRE) for 50,000gns.

The 2yo filly has been runner-up in three of her four starts to date.

A daughter of the 4-time winning Roderic O'Connor mare Coolfitch, Keep Bidding hails from the family of Group 1 winners G Force and Flotilla.
