Domeland’s Roy Cheng hit the leaderboard when outlaying 360,000 guineas for the stakes-placed Siyouni 2yo Kyeem (read the story here).
There were several purchases just under that mark heading to the antipodes.
Lot 741 Australian Bloodstock / Ronald Rauscher paid 300,000gns for the 4yo Australia (GB) gelding Early Of Tyrone (IRE).
A 3-time winner in Ireland this season for Paddy Twomey, including the Martin Molony Stakes at Limerick, Earl Of Tyrone was a close-up third in the Ebor Handicap at York behind Trawlerman who finished third at his next start in the Group II Long Distance Cup behind Trueshan and Coltrane on Champions Day at Ascot.
By Epsom Derby hero Australia (GB), Early Of Tyrone (IRE) is out of the unraced Pivotal mare Affirmative, a daughter of the Group Nassau Stakes winner Favourable Terms (Selkirk).
Lot 664 Ciaron Maher Bloodstock went to 300,000gns for the lightly race Camelot 4yo Ruling (GER).
The Joseph O’Brien-trained gelding made just two starts this year, finishing fourth in both.
Last season Ruling was stakes-placed and rounded out his 3yo season when breaking his maiden by 9 lengths at The Curragh.
Ruling (GER) has a Classic pedigree being a son of Derby winner Camelot out of the Group 1 German Oaks heroine Rosenreihe (Catcher In The Rye).
Rosenreihe (IRE has gone on with the job at stud. She is the dam of stakes-winner Roze Rized (Authorized), and stakes-placed Savvy Six who was third in the Group 1 German Derby and Group III The Queen Mother Memorial Cup at Sha Tin.
Roze Rized has left the top-class filly Rosscarbery (Sea The Stars), a Group III winner in Ireland and second to Aristia in the Group 1 Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville in August.
Lot 685 Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott teamed up with McKeever Bloodstock to secure the royal colour-bearer Just Fine (IRE) for 300,000gns.
A historic first winner for King Charles III when winning his most recent start at Leicester on October 4, Just Fine (IRE) has three wins and three places from 14 starts.
The 4yo son of Sea The Stars is out of the Kingmambo mare Bint Almatar, a half-sister to the dam of the wonderful Cascadian (GB).
Lot 708 Snowden Racing / Will Johnson Bloodstock had the final say at 160,000gns for the 4yo Siyouni gelding Substantial (GB).
A last-start winner at York for William Haggas, Substantial (GB) has won three and placed in four of his nine starts.
He is one of three winners for the stakes-winning Danehill Dancer mare Sentaril. Runner-up in the Group III Jersey Stakes, Sentaril is a daughter of the flying Superstar Leo, the champion 2yo filly in Europe in 2000.
Lot 679 Avenue Bloodstock / Bjorn Baker Racing / Clarke Bloodstock chipped in 135,000gns for the Group III winner Glounthaune (IRE).
A 3yo colt by Kodiac, Glounthaune (IRE) has been campaigned in good company by Aidan O’Brien this year.
After winning the Group III Killavullan Stakes at Leopardstown last season, Glounthaune (IRE) earned a shot at the Group 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Del Mar.
He was never a factor there, and Glounthaune (IRE) has failed to win in five starts this year but was runner-up in the Group II Boomerang Mile at Leopardstown in September.
Glounthaune’s unraced dam Khaimah (Nayef), is a half-sister to stakes-winner and Group 1 French Derby third Motamarris (Le Havre).
Lot 524 Go Racing New Zealand purchased the 3yo Kitten’s Joy gelding Mutamanni (USA) for 85,000gns.
Trained in France, Mutamanni (USA) was an impressive winner of his only start at Chantilly in October last year and has not been seen since.
His dam Murafrif (Sea The Star) is a half-sister to Group III winner Tantheem (Teofilo) from the same family of the previously mentioned Glounthaune (IRE).
Lot 481 Australian Bloodstock / Ronald Rauscher were back in action, purchasing the lightly race maiden Made Of Gold (GB) for 75,000gns. A 3yo son of Highland Reel (IRE), Made Of Gold (GB) made three starts this year, placing in his final two at Newmarket and Yarmouth.
His dam Chapel Choir (Dalakhani) is a half-sister to Group II Yorkshire Cup winner Gospel Choir and Listed winner Sennockian Star out of the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Chorist (Pivotal).
Lot 655 New Zealand trainer Shaune Ritchie purchased Shadwell’s 4yo Kitten’s Joy (USA) gelding Mahrajaan (USA) for 75,000gns.
A 3-time winner last year, Mahrajaan (USA) has failed to win in five starts this term, although he has been placed three times.
Mahrajaan (USA) is a son of the dual Group 1 winner Lahudood (Singspiel), the dam of stakes-winner Aghareed, the dam of the champion Baaeed (Sea The Stars) and Group 1 Coronation Cup winner Hukum (Sea The Stars).
Lot 579 De Burgh Equine / Darby Racing have a reputation for sniffing out a bargain, and they may have found one here in the 60,000gns Galileo colt Anchorage (IRE).
After a relatively busy 2yo season in which he placed in the Group III Eyrefield Stakes, Anchorage was campaigned exclusively in stakes company by Aidan O’Brien this season.
While he failed to place in four starts, he was not disgraced. At his most recent start the son of Galileo was five and a half lengths fifth of six behind highly regarded stablemate Luxembourg in the Group III Royal Whip Stakes. At his next start Luxembourg defeated Onesto and Vadeni in the Group 1 Irish Champion Stakes.
