Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Tara Madgwick - Friday October 21

Trials at Rosehill on Friday morning featured two heats for juveniles with the winners being the half-brother to a Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner and a filly that is the second foal of a Golden Gift winner.

The David Payne trained gelding Maharba made it two trial wins in a row when beating high profile colts Mojave Desert and Head of the Herd.

Maharba is bred to be fast and early being a half-brother to Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Unencumbered from stakes-winning juvenile Blizzardly.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained filly Summer Loving looked fast and professional and with only three in her heat she quickly took charge and did her job.

A $425,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Edinburgh Park draft, Summer Loving is also bred to get up and go early being by Exceed and Excel from Group II placed Sebring filly Serena Bay, who was also trained by Gai and Adrian and won the ATC Golden Gift, which is now worth $1million, in 2016.

Bred and sold by Edinburgh Park, Summer Loving is from Golden Gift winner Serena Bay.
