Minsk Moment Powers to Victory in Dual Choice Plate

Lightly raced four-year-old entire Minsk Moment is likely to step up to stakes company after a fast-finishing win in Wednesday's Dual Choice Plate (1200m) at Geelong.

Ridden by James McDonald for Chris Waller, Mink Moment was buried away midfield before McDonald eased him out in clear air before the home turn.

The son of I Am Invincible quickened impressively to defeat Field Of Roses (Deep Field) by one and three-quarter lengths with a half-head back to Crestani (Nicconi) in third.

“He’s a nice horse, and he executed beautifully today. He was really strong last furlong and the furlong-and-a-half," McDonald said.

“He’s been building towards that. The firmer ground has helped.

“He’s definitely very progressive and with a bit of confidence on the board I’m sure he’ll shoot through his grades. The majority of him is owned in Perth, so we might see him in some big races over there."

Bred by K Biggs Enterprises Pty Ltd and T Russell, Minsk Moment is the first foal of the Oratorio (AUS) mare Dancing Express, runner-up in the Group III WATC Sires' Produce Stakes and Group III Champion Fillies Stakes.

Minsk Moment a $575,000 Magic Millions yearling

A half-sister to stakes-winner Stagnite (Danehill Express), Dancing Express has a yearling filly by Hellbent, who Australian Bloodstock purchased for $100,000 out of the Yarraman Park Stud draft at the Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

The 3yo Hellbent x Dancing Express filly Hellavadancer has won two of five starts, including a last-start success at Eagle Farm.

Dancing Express has a 2yo Hellbent colt but has slipped in her last two seasons.
