Juvenile Trial Watch –Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday October 18

There were three heats for juveniles at the Warwick Farm trials on Tuesday featuring some interesting winners including the full brother to Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Exhilarates.

The Chris Waller stable is not known for producing early juveniles but it’s not surprising to see Snitzel colt Shinzo put his hand up as a likely go early type.

The full brother to $2.4million earner Exhilarates, Shinzo showed all the natural brilliance of his sister to slide through on the inside and lead for Hugh Bowman going on to win his heat by nearly two lengths. Third placed Room for Squares is a half-brother to Magic Millions 2YO Clkassic winner Shaquero.

Retained to race by Coolmore and partners, Shinzo is only the second living foal of dual Group I winner Samaready, who was bought by Tom Magnier for $1.8million at the 2020 Inglis Chairman’s Sale when in foal to Snitzel.

The resulting foal is Shinzo, although Samaready has not produced a foal since and was sent to the Northern Hemisphere earlier this year.

Renowned ‘king of the kids’ Spirit of Boom had a nice trial winner in Malaboom, the Matthew Dale trained filly leading all the way to win her heat from late closers Lindelago and Cinque Terre, by first season sires Bolt D’Oro (USA) and Harry Angel (IRE).

Malaboom is a half-sister to stakes-placed Hard to Say from stakes-winner Malasun, while runner-up Lindelago is a half-sister to last season’s very smart stakes-placed filly Lady Laguna.

The final trial was won by the Annabel Neasham trained Choisir filly Empress of Wonder who ran home from last along the inside to score a stylish neck win.

Empress of Wonder is a half-sister to stakes-placed Wonderful Riri and her third dam is Group I SA Oaks winner Irish Heiress.
