Hellbent Filly Divine Glory Breaks Maiden in Style

Mark Smith - Wednesday October 12

Third on debut behind the hugely impressive Platinum Jubilee in the Group III Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick, Hellbent filly Divine Glory made light work of the Fujitsu General Maiden Plate (1000m) at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Ridden by Kerrin McEvoy for Peter and Paul Snowden, Divine Glory followed the pacesetting Kata Kapi, before switched off heels to mount a challenge at the 250m. Keeping up a strong gallop the daughter of Hellbent defeated Chasing A Quid (Capitalist) by two and a quarter lengths with Kata Kapi (Headwater) a head back in third.

Divi

ne Glory has earned a break before an autumn campaign.

“She has a good attitude, and nothing really fazes her,” McEvoy said.

“She showed a good kick when I asked her, and she did it nicely. It was quite cosy in the last bit, and she got through the ground well.

“That was a tick in the box. She is not overly big, but she covers the ground well, and we will see where she can get to after Christmas.”

A $140,000 purchase for Snowden Racing / William Johnson Bloodstock (FBAA) from the Yarraman Park Stud at the 2022 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Divine Glory is the second winner from four to race out of the hard-knocking Not A Single Doubt mare Never Doubt Me.

Divine Glory a $140,000 Inglis Classic yearling

The winner of eleven and placed in seven of her 38 starts for Neil Godbolt, Never Doubt Me was purchased by her trainer for just $8,000 at the 2010 Inglis Winter Thoroughbred Sale.

Never Doubt Me has a yearling sister to Divine Glory and was covered by Graff last spring.
