One to Watch – Sunshine Coast

Tara Madgwick - Sunday October 2

A bargain priced I Am Invincible yearling might have needed some time to come into his own, but when the now four year-old gelding was unleashed by Barry Lockwood at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday it was hard not to be impressed.

Sent out a short priced favourite for the 1200m maiden, Lord Vinnie travelled deep and surged clear to win by nearly four lengths in an eye-catching performance making light of the rainy weather and soft track.

Lord Vinnie was snapped up for just $85,000 at Inglis Easter from the Newgate Farm draft by TCB Bloodstock making him the cheapest of 27 yearlings by his sire sold at that sale and yet as you can see in his yearling photo he does indeed have four legs and not three as his price would suggest!

Lord Vinnies was a bargain basement yearling by I Am Invincible.

Lord Vinnie comes with a big pedigree as he is a half-brother to Group I winning sprinter I Am Excited and Group III winner Flippant being the fourth winner from Lady Beckworth, a half-sister by General Nediym to the dam of Group I winning fillies Atlantic Jewel (dam of Group I winner Russian Emperor) and Commanding Jewel.

Patience may well pay off for Lord Vinnie and there will be a lot of interest to see where he pops up next.
