Russian Revolution Colt Beluga Express Related to a Superstar

Mark Smith - Friday September 30

Enthralled by the deeds of the latest American superstar Flightline, you may want to have something on Beluga Express in Saturday's Listed Darley Maribyrnong Trial Stakes (1000m) at Flemington.

Beluga Express a $180,000 Magic Millions yearling

Trained by Ben and JD Hayes, the son of Russian Revolution, was a $180,000 purchase from the Glenlogan Park draft the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

He is the first foal of the accomplished stakes-placed Temple City mare Kasuga (CAN), who was a $240,000 purchase for Steve Morley Bloodstock/Glenlogan Park when consigned by Willow Park to the 2020 National Broodmare Sale when carrying  Beluga Express.

Kasuga's multiple stakes-winning granddam Extend (Unbridled's Song) is a daughter of the Alydar mare Home Leave, a half-sister to Gr 1 winner Fantastic Find.

A daughter of Mr Prospector, Fantastic Find is the dam of Gr 1 Acorn Stakes and Grade 1 Matron Stakes winner Finder's Fee (Storm Cat), the granddam of Flightline's dam Feathered.

Kasuga has a yearling Zoustar filly and a filly foal by Bivouac

Beluga Express's relationship to Flightline may be tenuous as a descendant of the wonderful Phipps family foundation mare Blitey (Riva Ridge). Still, it would surprise if it fails to find a place on the catalogue page.
