Shades of Rose Named for Bon Ho Everest Slot

Tara Madgwick - Thursday September 29

Swettenham Stud’s Rubick is set to have two runners in the $15million The Everest with today’s announcement that exciting four year-old mare Shades of Rose has been selected by Bon Ho and will join Rubick colt Jacquinot in the line-up for the world’s richest sprint.

A homebred for Steve and Louise Gillard that was foaled and raised at Yarraman Park, Shades of Rose has charted a meteoric rise through the grades reeling off four consecutive wins culminating in a brave win in the Group II ATC Sheraco Stakes (1200m) on September 10.

The lightly raced mare owns the impressive record of seven wins and a second from nine starts with prizemoney in excess of $445,000 and will give her trainer Bjorn Baker two runners in the race as he already has Overpass engaged to run in the James Kennedy slot.

“After returning to work better than ever, I am confident that she has earned her place in the Everest and that her grit and will to win will shine through on race day,” said Bjorn Baker.

“Mr Ho is a long-term client and respected industry participant, who is a great supporter of racing in Australia and we are thrilled to partner with him in filling his slot.”

Baker is delighted to have two Everest runners with Overpass set to have his final hit out this Saturday at Randwick in the $1million Group II ATC Premiere Stakes (1200m).

“I am absolutely thrilled to train two TAB The Everest runners. After starting out with two horses at Warwick Farm 11 years ago, I am humbled to have two sprinters competing in one of the world’s great races,” Baker concluded.
