The Lindsey Smith-trained five-year-old started favourite in Sunday's Group I Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield, finishing seventh behind Santa Ana Lane but returning to scale with an injury.

Scales Of Justice was galloped on to his off hind leg and was lame on Monday morning.

Managing owner Chris Wells told The West Australian the next 48 hours will decide if Scales Of Justice stays in Victoria for the Group I Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield on Saturday week.

"He's got some bruising there. We'll see how he goes on Wednesday and Thursday and decide whether we continue on or bring him back for the Railway and Kingston Town," Wells said.

"Darren (Weir) told Lindsey (Smith) not to get too despondent, but the horse has to be right to go to the Toorak."

Scales Of Justice won last year's Group I Railway Stakes (1600m) before finishing a close second to Stratum Star in the Group I Kingston Town Classic (1800m).
