Invincible Filly Makes History Winning G2 Run to the Rose

Tara Madgwick - Saturday September 10

Godolphin don’t have many horses by champion sire I Am Invincible in their powerful stable, but a filly they bought for $900,000 from Magic Millions last year stormed into contention for the $1million Group I ATC Golden Rose when beating the colts to win the Group II ATC Run to the Rose (1200m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

Trained by James Cummings and ridden by Tommy Berry, In Secret was scheduled to run last week in the Group II ATC Furious stakes against the fillies, but was scratched when the track deteriorated and re-routed into this race.

Few fillies have started in the Run to the Rose and none had won, so In Secret made a little piece of history when she powered home to beat Golden Slipper runner-up Best of Bordeaux by nearly two lengths with Group III San Domenico Stakes winner Sweet Ride in third place.

Golden Slipper winner Fireburn finished in fifth place at her first run back from a spell.

With three wins and a second from four starts and prizemoney topping $300,000, In Secret was immediately installed as favourite for the Golden Rose ahead of her stablemate Golden Mile, who earlier won the Group III ATC Ming Dynasty, read about him here.

"That doesn't surprise me. She gets in with a filly's weight," said stable representative Darren Beadman.

"She's no oil painting but what she's got in here (heart) and what she's got up there (head), that's what counts.

"The race set up nicely for her, but she has just been crying out for a dryer track and the team has been very patient with her.

"She's top shelf."

In Secret was bred in partnership by Longwood Thoroughbred Farm and Segenhoe, who consigned her for sale, and is the second winner from former brilliant Group III winning filly Eloping, who won over $1.2million in prizemoney.

Longwood Thoroughbred Farm sold the current two year-old from Eloping, a filly by Trapeze Artist, for $200,000 at Inglis Premier this year to Mick Price Racing and Breeding.

Eloping has a filly to follow by Snitzel and is back in foal to In Secret’s sire I Am Invincible.

Already a stakes-winner last season, In Secret highlights one of his most successful nicks for her champion sire I Am Invincible.

I Am Invincible over daughters of Choisir has a 100% success rate with 11 winners from 11 runners and In Secret is the third stakes-winner joining Group I placed Group III winner Eckstein and stakes-winner I Am Eloquent.
