New Stakes-Winner for Exceed and Excel

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday September 7

Champion Darley sire Exceed and Excel featured overnight with a new stakes-winner when three year-old colt Manaccan took out the Listed Scarborough Stakes (5f) at Doncaster.

The John Ryan trained Manaccan improved off a last start third in a Listed race to post his first Black Type win, cruising clear to win by a length and a half for Ryan Moore.

“I think a lot of Manaccan - we always have - and he's the best one I've had for a while. His ideal trip is five as he's got a high cruising speed and a turn of foot and I think he's going to be a better horse next year. If the ground stays okay we'll go to Newbury on September 17 for the International Trophy,” said John Ryan.

He was bought for 100,000 guineas by Jamie Piggott Bloodstock at last year’s Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up Sale and is a half-brother to stakes-winner Raucous and Group III placed Divine Spirit from good producer Shyrl, a Group II placed daughter of Acclamation.

Exceed and Excel

He is the 202nd stakes-winner worldwide for Exceed and Excel, who stands this spring at a fee of $132,000.
