Juvenile Trial Watch – Deagon

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday September 6

Three heats for juveniles run at Deagon in Queensland on Tuesday morning produced two winners for Raheen Stud’s promising young sire Heroic Valour and an interesting Written By colt prepared by champion trainer Lee Freedman.

A Blue Diamond winning Champion 2YO Colt by Written Tycoon, Written By made a good impression at the sales this year with his first crop of yearlings selling well and tipped by many to be up and running early.

Talented colt Sunday Mail looks to be a likely contender to fit that profile doing everything right in his first trial to win by more than a length held together.

Sunday Mail is a half-brother to two winners from Group II placed Exceed and Excel mare Sunday Rose, who traces in tail female line to blue hen Jesmond Lass, the dam of Golden Slipper winner Canny Lad and triple Group I winner Canny Lass.

Bought by Lee Freedman for $150,000 from the Widden draft at Magic Millions, Sunday Mail has a big ownership group including My Racehorse syndications in whose colours he runs.

Raheen Stud’s Group I winning Fastnet Rock son Heroic Valour had a flurry of early winners last season and looks set to do the same again this spring having sired five runners at this set of trials including the heat winners below.
