Stakes Next for Zoustar Filly

Tara Madgwick - Friday September 2

Zoustar has had some nice winners in his first Northern Hemisphere bred crop of two year-olds and one of them is talented filly Zouky, who made it two wins as many starts when scoring at Haydock overnight.

Trained by Phillip McBride, Zouky won on debut at Newbury last month and kept up the good work to down race favourite Kitai by a neck with nearly five lengths back to the third horse.

“We've always thought Zouky was a very nice filly. We thought she'd run well but we worried about Mr Johnston's(Kitai) as it's very difficult to carry a seven-pound penalty. We'll stick at six furlongs as her pedigree is very sharp and she shows a lot of speed. She's got a big backend on her and is a nice size. We've got our eye on the Bosra Sham (Listed race at Newmarket)),” said Charlie McBride.

Bred by Bumble Bloodstock, Zouky is a half-sister to stakes-winning juvenile Ventura Mist and is the seventh winner form good producing Tobougg mare Kerry’s Dream.

Zoustar looked in great shape at the Widden Stud stallion parades last week.

Zoustar has had eight winner from his first Northern Hemisphere crop so far headed by Group III winning filly Lezoo.

Zoustar is fully booked at Widden Stud at a fee of $198,000 this spring.
