Tara Madgwick - Monday August 29

The release of entries for the Group I Caulfield Guineas and Thousand Guineas has added plenty of interest to competitive maiden events which are often the first stepping off point for potential contenders, so let’s take a look at the runners today that hold entries.

Newcastle holds some interest with $2.5million Inglis Easter sale-topper Magic looking to break his maiden in Race 6 over 1300m. The full brother to Group I MRC Thousand Guineas winner Yearning was Group placed twice last season and the son of Snitzel is overdue for a win.

Also at Newcastle Michael Freedman has promising Astern colt Backrower in a Class 1 race over 1400m which looks a very soft option for the half-brother to multiple Group I winner Le Romain, wwho was a lst start second in Satruday class to Manzoice.
