Widden Stud’s sadly missed Northern Meteor made his presence felt in stakes races around Australia on Saturday.

The brothers Shooting To Win and Deep Field played their part.

Shooting to Win’s Shooting For Gold opened his stakes account in the Group III The McCafe Stakes at Caulfield.

Deep Field chipped in with the Annabel Neasham-trained Sweet Ride, a dominant winner of the Group III San Domenico Stakes at Rosehill.

Northern Meteor’s deceased son Fighting Sun had arguably one of the most impressive winners on the day.

The Peter Moody-trained mare Chain Of Lightning stretched her unbeaten record to five in the Group III  W.W. Cockram Stakes at Caulfield.

Group 1 VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Northern Meteor left just four crops before his premature death in 2013.

He is the most successful son of Coolmore’s Champion stallion Encosta De Lago who had another son in the spotlight on Saturday.

Swettenham Stud stallion Rubick has a challenger for the rich 3yo plums in the spring. The exciting Jacquinot, third in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes, earned his first stakes success at his seasonal debut in the Group III HDF McNeil Stakes.
