Price-Kent Unleash Impressive Debutants for Zoustar and Russian Revolution

Mark Smith - Friday August 26

The all-conquering Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr stable took the wraps off two exciting 3-year-old debutants on the Pakenham Synthetic on Friday.

After the Zoustar gelding Three Rings created a considerable impression with a fast-finishing win over 1000m, his Russian Revolution stablemate Kaygeebee led at every call over 1200m.

Damian Lane had the sit on both horses.

Caught wide, Three Rings was on one rein down the straight before hitting the line with gusto to defeat the $600,000 Zoustar filly Star Humma by one and a quarter lengths with the Starspangledbanner gelding Epic Centre a further one and three-quarter lengths back in third.

“He was a little tardy away but picked up quickly and put himself in a prominent position,” Lane said.

“I was worried at the top of the straight that I wasn’t sharp enough – McArdle’s horse (Star Humma) let down really well. It took this guy 100m to hit top gear, and once he did, I knew I was the winner.

“I think he has scope. I recommended 1000m off his trial, but the way he ran through the line today, I think a little further will be no problem.

“He’s good talent. A young, green horse, so it’s hard to put a line on them off one start. He can keep progressing. It is tough this time of year, but he will win more races.”

Three Rings a $160,000 Magic Millions yearling

Consigned by Segenhoe Stud to the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Three Rings was a $160,000 purchase for Aramco Racing.

He is the first winner from two to race from the stakes-placed Hinchinbrook mare Brulee.

A half-sister to Group III winner Serene Majesty (Fastnet Rock) and Listed winner Curdles (All Too Hard), Brulee is a daughter of the stakes-winning Lonhro mare Custard.

Annabel Neasham Racing / B McGuire / Best Bloodstock went to $140,000 to secure Brulee’s So You Think filly from the Segenhoe draft at the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

The second Price–Kent winner on the day, Kaygeebee, went coast to coast over 1200m.

The long-striding chestnut Russian Revolution gelding came clear to defeat the favoured Real Impact (JPN) colt, Berardino, by three lengths, with the Pride of Dubai filly Queen Latifa a half head back in third.

Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA)/Mick Price Racing bought Kaygeebee for $140,000 from the Glenlogan Park draft at the Gold Coast.

He is the second winner from as many foals from the Tasmanian star Iggimacool.

Kaygeebee a $140,000 Magic Millions yearling

The daughter of Savoire Vivre (GB) was a 9-time winner of $461,775, highlighted by the Listed VRC Winter Championship Final, Listed TTC Tasmanian Oaks, and Listed TTC Tasmanian Stakes.

Steve Morley Bloodstock/Glenlogan Park bought Iggimacool for $280,000 from the Newgate Farm consignment at the 2019 National Broodmare Sale.

She has a 2yo brother to Kaygeebee and a yearling filly by Pierata. Iggimacool was covered by Russian Revolution again last spring.
