Written Tycoon's Elegant Diva Makes Winning Debut

Mark Smith - Friday August 12

After striking with Red Sun Sensation in the colts and geldings division of the 3yo maidens at Geelong, the Peter Moody stable added the fillies division with the Written Tycoon debutant Elegant Diva.

With Billy Egan in the saddle, Elegant Diva enjoyed a dream run behind leader Bie'res and never went outside a horse.

Defying her inexperience, Elegant Diva went gun-barrel straight down the straight to defeat the Thronum filly Sweet 'N' Spicy by one and a quarter lengths with the Merchant Navy filly Red Duster a further two lengths back in third.

"This filly is owned by Ron and Deb Gilbert from Highgrove Stud at Toowoomba," Moody said.

"She is a homebred from a good family, so we want to build on her record. It's much the same with Gerry Ryan and the team with the other filly Red Duster. She is a filly that we paid a good bit of money. The Merchant Navy's are taking a bit of time, but all show ability."

Elegant Diva a $130,000 Inglis Classic yearling

A $130,000 Inglis Classic yearling, Elegant Diva is a half-sister to Group II BRC Sires Produce Stakes winner Attention (Stratum) and stakes-placed Flamboyant Lass (Stratum), out of the Snowland mare Flamboyance.

Rosemont Stud shelled out $210,000 for Flamboyance at the 2021 National Broodmare Sale when carrying a colt by Exceed and Excel.

Flamboyance missed to Hanseatic last spring.
