G1 Placed Nudge a Highlight for Inglis Digital August (early)

Media Release - Sunday July 31

A 50% share in the Group-winning and G1 placed mare Nudge will be offered in the Inglis Digital August (Early) Online Sale.

Trained by Chris Waller, Nudge asserted herself as one of the nation’s premier race fillies and mares over multiple seasons, winning in Group company and placing at G1 level on multiple occasions.

Nudge has won over $1.2million- image Racing Photos

During a lucrative career, which netted over $1.2m in prizemoney, Nudge defeated star mares such as Tofane, Probabeel, Shout The Bar, Funstar, Sierra Sue, Nettoyer, Mizzy, Krone, Startantes, Sweet Deal, Madam Rouge, Savatiano, Flit, Lyre, Nimalee, Greysful Glamour, Dame Giselle, Quantum Mechanic, Subpoenaed, Brooklyn Hustle, Vangelic, Annavisto, Rich Hips etc.

Nudge is beautifully bred, being a daughter of potent broodmare sire Fastnet Rock, daughters of whom have produced the likes of Santa Ana Lane, Russian Emperor, Gytrash, Tivaci, Glint Of Hope, Omei Sword, Queen Of The Ball, Big Parade etc.

The dam of Nudge, the Stakes-winning daughter of Stravinsky, Juliet’s Princess, is also the dam of dual G1 winner Julinsky Prince.

The increasingly influential Stravinsky is also responsible for daughters who have produced the likes of Russian Revolution, Tepin, Lankan Rupee, Mosheen, Dame Giselle etc, while he also features in the female pedigrees of the likes of Home Affairs, Trekking, Improbable, Count de Rupee etc.

Nudge’s best performance came when finishing second behind multiple G1 winner Tofane in a stellar renewal of the G1 Tatts Tiara over 1400m at Eagle Farm, a race in which she had the likes of Sweet Deal, Madam Rouge, Savatiano, Flit, Lyre, Mizzy, Odeum, Sierra Sue, Dame Giselle and other high-class fillies and mares in arrears.

“Her second behind Tofane was a brilliant run, frustrating in fact because she came so close to one of Australia’s greatest mares of her year and had to give away about a 10-length start,’’ trainer Chris Waller said.

“To chime in later, almost to win the G1 herself, would have been the perfect prize but it did show her ability where she raced at competitively and it was certainly a memorable race.’’

Waller said Nudge, a $380,000 purchase by him in conjunction with leading agent Guy Mulcaster, possessed “all the attributes you’re looking for when you’re trying to breed’’.

“Nudge is a great type, good constitution, effective racehorse, well bred… if she produces progeny like herself, trainers will be happy,’’ he said.

“She always gave you a good run for your money. She picked up some good wins and was probably not the luckiest horse in terms of barrier draws and luck in running but on the right day with the right run, gee she was a very good horse, competitive in some of the biggest races.

“Her greatest attributes would be her temperament – she’s a lovely horse who was good to work with – her strength and power which is what we want in Australian racing and speed, which would get her through to a mile as well.’’

Inglis Bloodstock CEO Sebastian Hutch said Nudge represents a “rare and appealing’’ proposition for investors.

“Nudge was a fantastic race mare, even better than her race record suggests, and generally it’s not possible for investors to get involved in stock of this quality,’’ Hutch said.

“Understandably, some of the owners have a strong sentimental attachment to her, but are excited by the prospect of being joined in the next stage of Nudge’s career by new partners through this sale.’’

For more information or to arrange an appointment to inspect Nudge, please contact Inglis’ Sebastian Hutch – sebastian.hutch@inglis.com.au or +61 423 770 854.

There will also be videos and photos of Nudge on the Inglis Digital website in the lead-up to the sale.

Nudge will be one of the highlight entries for the August (Early) Sale, for which entries close at midnight on Wednesday.

The sale will also include exciting Stakes-winning American mare Lakerball.
