Tough Juvenile winner for Sooboog

Breednet - Saturday July 23

You won’t find conditions any more testing than what confronted the youngsters in the opener at Randwick with Sooboog youngster True Crime equal to it.

The track was rated a Heavy 10 and Sydney’s big wet delivered a top up drenching before and during the race to ensure it was tough on those involved and indeed the last we’d see of racing for the day at Randwick.

True Crime went in to his third start as a short priced favourite on the back of a debut win at Gosford followed by a close second at Randwick in heavy ground and was never in serious danger of being beaten.

“I really liked his win at Gosford. When I saw that I was like ‘you’re a good horse’,” said winning rider Tommy Berry.

“He absorbed pressure, most horses would give up but he was really tough on that occasion.”

The third foal of Redhandedjill (Mull Of Kintyre), he was bought for $25,000 by Darby Racing from the Goodwood Farm draft at the Inglis HTBA May Yearling Sale.

He is one of seven juvenile winners this season for Sooboog who stands the 2022 season at Kitchwin Hills at a fee of $8,800.
