Vale, Spieth

Tara Madgwick - Sunday July 17

Aquis Farm have announced via Twitter that their promising young sire Spieth has died suddenly.

“It is with a heavy heart that Aquis Stallions announces the passing of exciting young sire Spieth.

“Spieth has been a much loved member of our farm since purchased in late 2017. He provided us and his ownership group with a great deal of excitement and pleasure.”

Vale, Spieth, gone too soon.

A Group I placed stakes-winning sprinter by Thorn Park, Spieth made a big splash at the official Sydney 2YO barrier trials last year when a number of his first crop offspring performed well prompting a slew of mare bookings.

Nearly 12 months on and Spieth has sired six winners including two stakes horses in Jaguar Stone and Birdies Galore, who tasted defeat for the first time on Saturday when second to He’s Heaven in the Listed SAJC Oaklands Stakes.

Spieth covered 129 mares last spring, so his progeny will be making an impression for a good few years to come.
