30th Stakes-Winner for Zoustar

Tara Madgwick - Saturday July 16

Widden Stud’s flagship sire Zoustar posted his 30th lifetime stakes-winner on Saturday when the Peter Moody trained blue-blood colt He’s Heaven cast off maiden status with a Black Type win at just his second start.

A homebred for Ron and Judy Wanless, who tasted success earlier in the day at Rosehill with their progressive 2YO Flag of Honour and at Flemington with promising 3YO Daytona Bay, He’s Heaven made it a day to remember for the lucky owners.

He was sent to Adelaide for the Listed SAJC Oaklands Plate (1400m) after finishing second on debut at Pakenham last month.

Ridden a positive race by Jason Benbow, He’s Heaven proved too hard to catch and scored a length and a half win over Prime Thoroughbreds colour bearer Birdies Galore, who had won her previous two starts.

A half-brother to Group III placed Angel of Heaven, He’s Heaven is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Group I winning Zabeel mare Lights of Heaven, who was placed in both a Group I Caulfield Cup and Doomben Cup.

Lights of Heaven has a yearling filly by Fastnet Rock, a weanling filly by The Autumn Sun and was covered last spring by So You Think.

He’s Heaven is the tenth Australian stakes-winner this season for Zoustar and four of them are juvenile stakes-winners.

Zoustar stands at a fee of $198,000 this spring.
