His close fourth in the Blue Diamond further proved his quality with the first three home in that sire making race being Artorius, who will run as one of the favourites in the Group I July Cup this weekend, Ingratiating and the mighty Anamoe.

Finance Tycoon returned at three to win the Group III MRC Zeditave Stakes (1200m) and retires with the overall record of four wins and two placings from just 10 starts with prizemoney just shy of $1million.

“Physically, he is an amazing looking horse. He is big, strong and he’s got a lovely temperament. You can only hope and dream that he could replicate half what his dad has achieved and away we go,” said Glen Eden studmaster Rory O’Brien.

Written Tycoon is a emerging as a prolific sire of sires.

His sire Written Tycoon was the Champion Australian Sire for 2020/2021 and has proven his stripes as a sire of sires through his champion son Capitalist as well as Winning Rupert and Rich Enuff, while a new wave of his sire sons is led by Ole Kirk, Written By and Dirty Work have garnered widespread support from mare owners.

On the score of female pedigree, Finance Tycoon comes from a serious stallion’s family with his third dam Silk Lilly a half-sister to legendary matriarch Fanfreluche, whose descendants include champion sires Flying Spur, Encosta de Lago and more recently Russian Revolution.

Lifetime breeding rights in Finance Tycoon will also be available after Glen Eden’s Rory O’Brien finalised a deal this week with the young stallion’s Hong Kong-based owner, who will support him with 20 plus mares this spring.

Finance Tycoon will stand at a fee of $13,200 this spring making him an affordable option for more budget conscious breeders that are fans of his sire, who stands at Yulong at a fee of $165,000.

Glen Eden Stud was the former home of Golden Slipper winner Fireburn’s sire Rebel Dane, who has been relocated to Widden Stud, but the farm is still home to Yulong Prince (SAfr), Palentino and Trust in a Gust.
