The Legacy Continues

Tara Madgwick - Sunday July 3

The sad passing of retired champion sire Not a Single Doubt last week got us thinking about his close relation King’s Legacy, who was the busiest first season sire in Australia last spring, so let’s take a look at the mares he covered.

King'e Legacy, click for more information.

Standing at Coolmore at a fee of $33,000, King’s Legacy is a young sire with impressive credentials being a $1.4million Magic Millions purchase for James Harron Bloodstock that went on to be a dual Group I winner at two capturing both the ATC Sires Produce Stakes and the Champagne Stakes.

He comes from a female family steeped in Black Type featuring champion sires Not a Single Doubt and Snippets, so it’s not hard to see why breeders found him such an appealing option and he covered 212 mares.

Among the mares in foal to him are the dams of this season’s Group I winners Mazu and Forbidden Love as well as Australian Group I winners Montoya’s Secret and Toffee Tongue.
