Dissident's Rebel Rama Opens Stakes Account

Mark Smith - Saturday June 25

Out of the winner’s circle since last October, the Mark Conners-trained Rebel Rama dealt punters a blow when downing the odd-on favourite Our Intrigue in Saturday’s Listed Tatt's Gold Crown (2150m) at Eagle Farm.

Ridden by Tommy Berry, Rebel Rama (Dissident) led at every call to defeat Our Intrigue (Showcasing) by a short-neck with Little Mix (Mahisara) a length back in third.

A $40,000 purchase for her trainer from the Corumbene Stud draft at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Rebel Rama advances her record to four wins, two seconds, and four thirds from 22 starts with earnings of $430,508.

The 4yo daughter of Dissident is the only winner from three to race out of the unraced Mossman mare Mossarama.

A three-quarter sister to 4-time Group II winner and multiple Group 1 placed Staging (dam of Duporth, Excites and Tickets), and Listed winner Dashing Eagle, Mossarama has a 2yo brother to Rebel Rama, named King Of Wanchai, which was purchased by Archer Racing for $22,500 at the Gold Coast.

Rebel Rama a $40,000 Magic Millions yearling

He is the last registered foal of Mossarama who was sold for $1,000 in 2020.

Rebel Rama is the fifth stakes-winner for Horse Of The Year Dissident who stands at Riverdene Stud for $6,600.
