One to Watch – Dubbo

Tara Madgwick - Friday June 10

The $40,000 Silver Goblet (1110m) at Dubbo on Friday was won in dazzling style by a two year-old Zoustar gelding that looms as a pinup success story for Inglis Digital.

Trained by Brett Robb, Gallant Star gave nothing else a chance, working forward to lead and then powering away down the running to win by more than four lengths.

Gallant Star was originally a $200,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Tony Fung Investments from the Tyreel Stud draft, but after two unplaced trials for Annabel Neasham, he was entered for the Inglis Digital February (early) Sale this year.

He was snapped up for $32,500 by Boondara Thoroughbreds and sent to Brett Robb, who has achieved an immediate result for his new owners.

Gallant Star is the third winner from three foals to race from unraced Hinchinbrook mare Miss Valor, a half-sister to this season’s Group III winning 2YO Nettuno from Group III winner Saint Minerva.

Gallant Star is the 12th 2YO winner this season for Widden Stud’s champion sire Zoustar, who has several youngsters running in stakes races at Eagle Farm on Saturday including Brereton, Twin Stars and Ringmaster in the Group I  JJ Atkins Stakes.
