Riverdene Stud Confirm 2022 Fees

Media Release - Wednesday May 11

Riverdene Stud principal Kevin Pendergast has confirmed that the 2022 service fees for his three resident stallions will remain the same as last season even in light of the progress all three sires have made in the past 12 months, and in particular the outfit’s former Horse of the Year and multiple Group 1 winner Dissident.

Speaking soon after Dissident had been represented by his third individual stakes winner in the form of last Saturday’s Listed CJC Champagne Stakes winner Diss is Dramatic at Riccarton in New Zealand, Pendergast revealed how delighted he was with the progress the sire-son of Sebring has made since relocating to Wagga this time last year.

“Dissident has been consistently in the top-20 stallions in the country for winners,” Pendergast was keen to point out. “Presently sitting with 78 individual winners (for the season), we are hoping to reach the 100 Club this racing year.

“He also has had a new 2-year-old stakes winner (in New Zealand). I think that Dissident is performing well enough to remain in the public eye.”

The period since Dissident’s switch from Newgate in the Hunter Valley to Riverdene Stud in the Riverina has also witnessed the emergence of the genuine black-type filly Decent Raine, a highly progressive 3-year-old raced in the famous Sangster colours. Three wins to date have seen her earnings climb to $368,525, a figure aided by prominent stakes placings in the Listed MRC Twilight Glow Stakes when runner-up, and Group 3 MVRC Scarborough Stakes and Listed ATC Reginald Allen Handicap when third.

Another very recent notable development concerning Dissident’s stud career has involved the stallion’s dual Group 2 winner Yes Baby Yes. The 2nd-crop 4-year-old was offered as a breeding proposition at last week’s Inglis Chairman’s Sale already the winner of $416,088 and made a further $520,000 for her connections when successfully sold on the night.

Riverdene Stud will again stand Dissident at a service fee of $6600 (inc. GST) alongside another very consistent sire of winners in the form of Sizzling.

His 50-plus winners this season include the high-class 3-year-old Burning Power, runner-up in the Group 2 Autumn Stakes at Caulfield in February. Sizzling’s 2022 service fee also remains at $6600 (inc. GST).

The third stallion on the Riverdene Stud roster for 2022 is Va Pensiero, a multiple Group winning son of Stratum whose first handful of runners include the winners Mandalorian, Bootyful Diva and Penopera. His fee also remains at $2200 (inc. GST), the same as it was in the previous season.
