Queensland Beckons for Brazen Beau's Resonator

Mark Smith - Saturday May 7

In typical Waterhouse/Bott style, the Brazen Beau gelding Resonator found the lead and refused to surrender it when making it two wins on the bounce over 1200m at Gosford on Saturday.

Ridden by Tim Clark, Resonator looked in trouble when challenged by the John O’Shea-trained Zoustar colt Zou Tiger. Resonator rallied to hold the challenge of Zou Tiger by a half neck with the $1million Not A Single Doubt colt Northern Beaches a further length and a quarter back in third.

He spelled after finishing midfield in the Breeders’ Plate last October. Resonator broke his maiden impressively at Canterbury on April 20.

“He has come back a hell of a lot better,” Clark said.

“I think a Queensland campaign beckons for him now with two promising wins.

“We could have gone another furlong, and the second horse was never going to get past him.

“He feels terrific in himself, is in a really good space at the moment, so it is onward and upward.

Resonator was a $360,000 purchase for China Horse Club/Newgate Bloodstock from the KBL Thoroughbreds draft at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

He is the first runner for the Fastnet Rock mare Dejavu Rock. A winner at Goulburn and Orange in six starts, Dejavu Rock is a half-sister to stakes-placed winners Top Slice and Bull Market.

After missing to an early cover by Brazen Beau last season, Dejavu Rock was one of 243 mares to visit Capitalist.
