$2.7 Million for Shout The Bar - Heading to Home Affairs

Breednet - Friday May 6

After her $2.7 million sale at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale, dual Group One winner Shout The Bar will race on in Queensland before retiring to a mating with Royal Ascot bound Home Affairs at Coolmore Stud in the new season.

Prepared by Brett and Rachael Howard’s Glenesk Thoroughbreds, it was Coolmore Stud's Tom Magnier who won out in the bidding for the mare who is the winner of the Vinery Stud Stakes (Gr.1) and Empire Rose Stakes (Gr.1).

“She’s a standout mare here,” said Magnier after the sale.

“A great bunch of people have bought this mare.”

“We want to buy the best mares for Home Affairs.”

“To get a mare like this is very exciting.”

Home Affairs is set to head to the UK in the coming weeks for a Royal Ascot campaign before retiring to Coolmore.

The $2.7 million equals the prices paid for Funstar last year and Divine Madonna in 2008, while only seven mares have sold for more at auction in Australia – Unforgotten, Princess Coup, Arcadia Queen, Listen Here, Samantha Miss, Sunlight and Milanova.
