First Season Winners at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale – Day 1

The first day of the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale produced some great results for our new group of first season sires, so let’s take a look at some of the highlights for sires that had sales of youngsters for $100,000 or more.

Too Darn Hot (GB)

Darley’s heavy hitter Too Darn Hot (GB) covered an exceptional book of mares in his first Australian season as befitting of a Dubawi colt that was the Champion European 2YO and 3YO Colt of his generation.

He made his mark with a couple of star colts.

He had the top selling colt of the session with Fairhill Farm’s half-brother to stakes-winner Lady of Honour selling for $320,000 to Peter O’Brien Bloodstock. The colt is from Fastnet Rock mare Majesty, a daughter of Irish Group III winner Kincara Palace (IRE).


Too Darn Hot colt from Birdy O'Reilly

Also a hot commodity was the Too Darn Hot colt from Birdy O’Reilly offered by Cannon Hayes Stud that made $170,000 to the bid of STAS Bloodstock. He is the second foal of a half-sister to Group III placed Oscar Zulu and his third dam is blue hen Parfore, the dam of Group I winners Terravista and Tiger Tees.

Too Darn Hot returns to Darley NSW at a fee of $44,000.

Blue Point (IRE)

Darley’s other heavy hitter Blue Point (IRE) hit a home run with a colt from stakes-placed Lady Loire fetching $290,000 for Sledmere Stud when bought by Newgate Farm’s Jim Carey, an outstanding judge of a pinhook prospect.

A three time Group I sprint winner at Royal Ascot, Blue Point is very much a speed son of Shamardal and this weanling colt is true to type. Blue Point stands at $44,000 this spring at Darley Victoria .

Aquis Farm’s Not a Single Doubt sprinter Dubious produced a great result for Rathmore Lodge, who sold their colt from Lonhro mare Flash off Innocence for $200,000 to HK Asia Investments.

A fast and precocious son of sire of sires Not a Single Doubt, Dubious has been priced at $13,200.

Widden Stud’s Zousain did best with a filly from stakes-winner Liesele that made $170,000 for Bhima Thoroughbreds when bought by Manson Place Bloodstock.

A stunning looking Group II winner by Zoustar he stands this spring at a fee of $22,000.

Coolmore’s Everest hero Yes Yes Yes got hisbest result of the day with Fairhill Farm’s colt from Blue Blazers that made $110,000 when secured by Ferguson Bloodstock / Bevan Smith Bloodstock / Andrew Williams Bloodstock. He is the first foal of an unraced sister to Champion Singapore 2YO and sire Super One.

Yes Yes Yes is priced at $38,500 this spring.

Vinery Stud’s Group I winning Exceed and Excel stallion Exceedance had his best result with a fily from Diamond Meteor that made $105,000 for Finniefierme when bought by Emerald Equine.

Aquis Farm’s Group I sprinter Pierata is the first son to stud of Pierro and he made his mark with a colt from Bella Gioia making $100,000 for Rathmore Lodge when snapped up by Manford Downs.
