With Chad Schofield in the saddle, the 4yo son of Written Tycoon defeated Malkovich (Choisir) by a long neck with Surreal Step (Sidestep) a further one and a half lengths back in third.

Tycoonist advances his record to five wins, six seconds, and four thirds from 22 starts with earnings of $634,025.

Waller’s Racing Manager Charlie Duckworth said they were worried by the heavy track.

“We were concerned when the rain fell this morning, but he seemed to get through it well,” Duckworth said.

“I thought he was coming off the bridle a little too soon. You can’t knock Chad’s ride. He won.”

Bred by B2B Bloodstock, Tycoonist was a $750,000 purchase for Jadeskye Racing/Brad Widdup Racing from the Newhaven Park draft at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

He is the best of four winners from as many to race from the stakes-winning Not A Single Doubt mare Doubtfilly who was purchased by Blue Sky Bloodstock (FBAA)/ B2B Bloodstock for $300,000 2014 National Broodmare Sale.

Fourth in Pierro’s Golden Slipper, Doubtfilly has a yearling colt by Starspangledbanner and a weanling filly by Merchant Navy. She was not served last spring.

Tycoonist is the 47th black-type winner for Yulong Stud’s champion stallion Written Tycoon.
