Tara Madgwick - Thursday April 28

Stuart Ramsay’s Turangga Farm colours were carried by a super impressive maiden winner at Mornington on Thursday and three year-old gelding Outback Action has the distinction of being the first winner for his sire Better Land.

Second at Cranbourne on debut earlier this month, the Peter Moody trained Outback Action took plenty of improvement from that outing and was a short priced favourite for the 1200m maiden.

He led throughout and steamed away from his rivals to win by six lengths eased down

“He’s a horse we have high expectations for so to go out and do that is a big relief,” said stable representative Katherine Coleman.

“We’ll continue to take him through his grades and build his education, it was good to see today for some great owners that have been really faithful to the stable and have been clients of Pete’s for a long time.”

A homebred for Turangga Farm, Outback Action is the first runner and first winner for his sire Better Land, who stands privately at the Hunter Valley stud and has just three foals in his first crop of now three year-olds. A stakes-placed son of Shamardal (USA), Better Land is from brilliant Group II ATC Silver Slipper winner Amelia's Dream

Outback Action is a half-brother to handy metro winner Human Nature and is the third winner from winning Zizou mare Tiarazou, a full sister to stakes-winner Zoutenant from stakes-winner Tenant’s Tiara.
