Newhaven Park Secure Mo’Unga

Tara Madgwick - Thursday April 14

Newhaven Park is already home to one Savabeel stallion in Cool Aza Beel and will soon make room for another with the Kelly family announcing their acquisition of dual Group I winner Mo’Unga.

The Annabel Neasham trained four year-old stallion will run for his new ownership group in the Group I ATC All Aged Stakes on Saturday and be kept in training for another season before retiring to Newhaven Park in 2023.

A winner of $1.8million in prizemoney, Mo’Unga was a last start second in the Group I MRC Futurity Stakes and looms as a fresh horse on the scene for the All Aged Stakes with Tommy Berry to ride.

Mo’Unga combines the blood of Waikato Stud’s champion sires Savabeel and O’Reilly with his yearling full brother topping Karaka Book 1 this year when selling for $1million to Annabel Neasham.

A top class racehorse that was fourth in last year’s Cox Plate, Mo’Unga appeals as a horse whose best may still be to come.
