Home Affairs Half-Brother to Star for Torryburn

Torryburn Stud will present half a dozen stunning youngsters at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale next week, but there is no denying the star of the show is the half-brother to dual Group I winning colt Home Affairs.

Torryburn bred Home Affairs and sold him at this sale in 2020 for $875,000 to Tom Magnier and the son of I Am Invincible has developed into the best three year-old sprinter in the country with a Royal Ascot campaign next on his agenda.

Winner of the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes last spring and the Group I VRC Lightning Stakes beating Nature Strip and Eduardo, Home Affairs will leave our shores with nothing left to prove.

His half-brother by Dundeel from Miss Interiors will be offered as Lot 291.

This eye-catching colt with the silver tail is also a half-brother to Group I placed Aysar and his dam Miss Interiors is a half-sister to dual Group I winner and now leading first season sire Russian Revolution. Her Capitalist colt offered at this sale last year sold for $1,050,000 to James Harron Bloodstock.

“He’s the real deal – rockstar looks, ultimate physique with an imposing fluid action, he is every bit as striking as her previous three colts, all with that similar strength to him,” said Torryburn Stud Manager, Mel Copelin.

“Like Home Affairs he has a very amenable temperament  that is so important for colts to race well.”

Torryburn will offer another colt by Home Affairs sire I Am Invincible at Inglis Easter and he’s Lot 468, the first foal of Group III winner The Pinnacle, a half-sister by So You Think to Group III winner Under the Eiffel and stakes-winner Tower of Lonhro.

“A standout first foal, this colt projects class and quality and walks with purpose,” Copelin said.

So You Think has made a noteworthy start to his career as a broodmare sire with his daughter Mull Over producing Golden Slipper winner Fireburn and The Pinnacle has certainly delivered something special with her first foal.

Lot 52 Colt Exceed and Excel x Apamurra (USA), by Lonhro

Third  foal of a placed half-sister to the dam of Group I winners Alizee and Astern with this season’s promising 2YO winner Willinga Beast (2f Snitzel) an update to the page being from a half-sister to the dam of this colt.

The Exceed And Excel x Lonhro cross has produced 30 winners from 39 runners led by 11 stakes performers including Group III  winners Minhaaj, Manicure and Resin.


Lot 66 Colt The Autumn Sun x Axiomatic, by O’Reilly


Third foal of a winning half-sister to Champion 3YO Xtravagant and Group III winner He’s Remarkable. From the family of stakes winners Arletty, Exclusive Lass, Koala Bear and the inform Flying Mascot who has since won two more Group III races since the catalogue went to print.

He is out of an O’Reilly mare, who as a broodmare sire has produced 190 stakes performers including 19 Group I winners, while the colt is bred on the same Redoute’s Choice x O’Reilly pedigree cross that has produced 65 winners from 88 runners led by Group I winner Shout The Bar, Group II winner Splintex and a further seven stakes performers.


Lot 223 Filly Zoustar x Imperial Lass (NZ), by Tavistock


Half-sister to promising 3YO Straight Arron from Group I placed Imperial Lass, a three-quarter sister to Group I Australian Derby winner Tavago.

From the extended family of champion racehorse and sire Lonhro, this filly is out of a mare by Tavistock, who has sired the dams of 16 winners from 32 runners led by four stakes winners highlighted by the Group II  winner Dragon Queen.


Lot 469 Colt Deep Field x The Soloist, by Smart Missile

A colt with unquestionable appeal for Hong Kong buyers being by Deep Field, sire of 2021 G1 HK International Sprint winner Sky Field and is the first foal of a winning half-sister to Champion HK Sprinter 2020/2021 Hot King Prawn and Group III winner Sirens Fury.

Mares by Smart Missile have produced nine individual winners from limited opportunities, while this colt is bred on a similar Deep Field x Fastnet Rock nick that has produced Group winners Quantum Mechanic and Big Parade as well as this season’s Black Opal Preview winner and Group II Pago Pago runner-up Sweet Ride.
