Ready Blitzes Rivals

Tara Madgwick - Saturday March 26

The leading sire of two year-old winners this season is not Snitzel or Zoustar, it’s Lyndhurst Stud’s Better Than Ready and he posted his 11th juvenile winner at Doomben on Saturday where Steady Ready won by daylight on debut.

Punters were awake to the talent of Steady Ready and the Tony and Maddysen Sears trained colt was sent out favourite and delivered on potential with a resounding five and three-quarter length win.

He led from barrier one and was never challenged, making light work of the heavy track which was in contrast to his previous 13 length trial win on good ground at Toowoomba.

Steady Ready was a $70,000 MM Book 2 yearling purchase.

Steady Ready was a $70,000 Magic Millions Book 2 purchase from the Yarramalong Park draft for Paul Moroney Bloodstock/Haoh & Co and is the second winner from Our First Lady, a winning Denman mare, whose dam is a half-sister to Group I winning sprinter and champion sire More Than Ready (USA).

The pedigree is an interesting one as Steady Ready is by a grand-son of More Than Ready so is line bred to his dam Woodman’s Girl.

The full brother to Steady Ready sold at the Magic Millions March Gold Coast Yearling Sale last week fetching $72,500 to the bid of RS Bloodstock/Paul Moroney & Catheryne Bruggeman.

Our First Lady is married to Better Than Ready and has been to him for five seasons in a row and given her first two foals are now winners the decision looks like a good one.
