Masssive Payday for Spirit Of Boom at the Gold Coast

Mark Smith - Sunday March 20

Spirit Of Boom has a massive 32 yearlings catalogued for the Magic Millions March Yearling Sale, so there were plenty of vendors with smiles on their faces when 2yo filly She'sgottheboom kept her record unbeaten record intact in the $500,000 Aquis Jewel, and 3yo gelding Prince Of Boom earned his fourth win in seven starts in the $500,000  TAB Jewel at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Sporting the distinctive white with multicoloured pineapples silks, She'sgottheboom kept up the phenomenal run that trainers Steve O'Dea and Matt Hoysted and jockey Boris Thorton have enjoyed.

A winner at Doomben and Toowoomba, She'sgottheboom was never in danger on Saturday.

Bounced out to the front, She'sgottheboom led at every call to defeat the Better Than Ready gelding Better Rain by a length with Even Now, a daughter of Better Than Ready, a half-length further back in third.

"She had to dig deep late for me, I have never got to the bottom of her yet, and I still don't think I have got there, but she only does what she has to do," Thornton told the Courier Mail.

"It was incredible. To put three together like this is a huge effort. Her best asset is being able to go at a good tempo and still kick off it."

She'sgottheboom failed to make her $60,00 reserve at the Magic Millions March Yearling Sale

Roona Lodge consigned the daughter of Spirit Of Boom to last year's March Sale, where she failed to make her $60,000 reserve. In three starts, she has banked $408,950.

She'sgottheboom is the first foal of Doomben winner Rosa's Charm (Golden Archer), who went through the 2017 March Yearling Sale for $20,000.

The Rob Heathcote trained Prince Of Boom made short work of the TAB Jewel.

He has been a fantastic advertisement for his sire, having won the Group II Spirit Of Boom stakes at Doomben in May.

With James Orman in the saddle, Prince Of boom was untroubled to defeat the Statue Of Liberty (USA), gelding Zuma California by two lengths with the Bel Esprit gelding Legal Esprit a length back in third.

"It’s good for racing to see good horses win good races, and it’s good for the owners, it’s good for the punters who backed him, and it’s good for me,” Heathcote said.

“Now you can understand why I have always had such a massive opinion of him.”

The son of Spirit Of Boom advances his record to four wins from seven starts with earnings of $561,000

Prince Of Boom an inspired $20,000 Magic Millions March Yearling Sale purchase

That is a handy return on the $20,000 shelled out by Adrenaline Thoroughbreds from the Eureka Thoroughbreds draft at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale.

Prince Of Boom is the only winner to date from four to race out of the winning Red Dazzler mare Dazzling Display, a half-sister to the Group II Queensland Guineas winner Express Air (Piccolo).

Eureka Thoroughbreds offered a Smart Missile colt out of Dazzling Display at the 2021 Gold Coast National Yearling Sale, where Krew Racing purchased him for $60,000.
