Windsor Park Stud Celebrate Turn Me Loose Hot Run

Media Release - Tuesday March 15

Hot young sire Turn Me Loose (Iffraaj) further embellished his rising stocks when his exciting 3YO daughter Ancient Girl gained her first stakes success in the Morphettville Guineas in Adelaide yesterday.

The only filly in the field, Ancient Girl was a warm favourite on the back of her narrow defeat by Barb Raider in the Gr.3 Vanity Stakes at Flemington last month and she never gave her supporters any concern maintaining a relentless gallop over the 1600m trip to cruise to victory by just under three lengths.

With her record now three wins from six starts trainer Clint McDonald is considering Ancient Girl’s future options.

“It is great for her owners who raced Turn Me Loose and own a share in him and it was important for them as the stallion is doing an amazing job,” McDonald said.

“He had a Group One winner yesterday and this filly has just won a Listed race, so he is a stallion who has gone to another level for sure.

“We have got the Australasian Oaks (Gr.1, 2000m) next month in mind and I think she will be an even better four-year-old mare.”

Bred by Dave Morris and Jason Thomasen, Ancient Girl was a A$150,000 purchase by McDonald Racing from Windsor Park Stud’s 2020 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale draft.
