Fantastic Five for Inglis Premier from Edinburgh Park

Sponsored Content - by Tara Madgwick - Monday February 21

It’s a long way from Edinburgh Park, situated on the mid north coast of NSW, to Oaklands Junction in Victoria, but the trip has been well worth making with five outstanding youngsters to be offered by Ian Smith and his team at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale starting this Sunday.

Branded for success with the IKS, Edinburgh Park Stud has a stellar reputation for producing top class runners from world champion sprinter Silent Witness through to more current stars such as Rubisaki, Glenfiddich and the grand campaigner Eleven Eleven, who has won over $2.8 million in prizemoney.

First into the ring for Edinburgh Park will be Lot 53, a gorgeous filly by Group I sire Deep Field from well bred import Listenlindalisten (Can).

Eligible for both Super VOBIS and BOBS, this beautiful bay is the first foal of a smart two time Woodbine stakes-winner that is being given every opportunity at stud with another Deep Field filly to follow and a cover last spring to Golden Slipper winner Farnan.

Lot 200 is one of only five colts in this sale by champion sire Exceed and Excel and as such will be on the must inspect list for many.

He is a half-brother to stakes-placed Raging Queen from stakes-placed Royal Bender, who won six races and over $400,000 in prizemoney and is bred on a similar Exceed and Excel x Sadler’s Wells nick that has produced 10 stakes-winners headed by G1 Breeders Cup Turf Juvenile winner Outstrip.

Lot 268 is a stunning colt by red hot Victorian sire Toronado (IRE), who has had five SW’s this season and is the first foal of winning Ocean Park mare Summerfest (NZ), a half-sister to Singapore Champion 2YO, 3YO and 4YO Better Than Ever.

The family has had an update this year with the Magic Millions 2YO Classic place-getter Snitcat appearing on the page.

Lot 323 is glorious chestnut filly by Victoria’s reigning Australian Champion Sire Written Tycoon, who also has the Golden Slipper favourite in Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Coolangatta.

She is the first foal from metro winning Wonderbabe, a half-sister by Snitzel to stakes horses miss Wonderland and Spencer from the family that has also produced Edinburgh Park’s star performers Glenfiddich and Eleven Eleven. Bred on similar Written Tycoon x Snitzel cross to stakes-winners Marine One and Profiteer, who are both by Written Tycoon's Golden Slipper winning son Capitalist from daughters of Snitzel.

Pierro is the sire of the last Edinburgh Park yearling to be offered and Lot 521 is an athletic  filly from good producing stakes-winner Fill the Page, who has done a great job at stud with three foals to race all winners.

They are Fun Fact, a Group III winner of over $840,000 in prizemoney, Group III placed Tamasa and the lightly raced So You Think 3YO Son of Emperor, who has a win and two seconds from his past three starts.

Trained by David Payne, Son of Emperor holds an entry for the Group I ATC Australian Derby, so watch this space!
