One to Watch – Ipswich

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday February 9

Toby and Trent Edmonds unleashed an impressive debut winner at Ipswich on Wednesday by Flying Artie.

Three year-old gelding Preach was favourite for the 1100m maiden and led all the way for Ben Thompson to win as he pleased by two lengths.

Preach was a $50,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newgate Farm d raft for Edmonds Racing/Kestrel Thoroughbreds and was a successful pinhook having been bought by Newgate for $18,000 at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale from the Rothwell Park draft.

Preach as a yearling.

Preach is a half-brother to former brilliant multiple Group II winning sprinter Rain Affair, who won over $1.5million and was Group I placed four times.

Bred by the estate of the late Don Storey, Preach is the eighth winner from eight to race from terrific producer I Believe, a metro winning half--sister by Octagonal to stakes-winner Walk Alone.
