Street Boss Gelding Pinstriped to Target Australian Guineas

Mark Smith - Saturday January 29

Powerfully made Street Boss (USA) gelding Pinstriped will take aim at the Australian Guineas after keeping his record at a perfect two for two following a dominant performance in Saturday’s $175,000 VOBIS Gold Carat (1200m) at Moonee Valley.

A facile five and a half length winner at Moe on debut last September, Pinstriped made a sweeping run from near the tail of the field under Michael Dee to defeat the All Too Hard filly Danny's St Darci by a half-length with a further one and a quarter lengths to the Written Tycoon colt Finance Tycoon in third.

Winning trainer Enver Jusufovic said he was unfazed when the gelding drifted so far back in the run.

“I didn’t mind where he was. He’s a big striding horse and I think it just gave him an opportunity to find his stride,” Jusufovic said.

“He had plenty of galloping room and it’s not easy at only your second start to come to Moonee Valley and perform like that.

“It gave him a chance to build up and find that stride. He’ll improve from that. It’ll be interesting what Mick says about it but I’ll have to put a nom in for the (Australian) Guineas after that.”

Dee said the son of Street Boss (USA) progressed nicely during his break.

“He’s improved a hell of a lot. Prior to coming here today he’s a more relaxed horse, he’s taken everything in his stride, and he’s matured,” Dee said.

“He has strengthened up and he still won that race on raw ability.

“They did go steady and when everyone sorted their positions, we had some nice cover.

“I just let him stride. He covered more ground than was probably ideal, but I always felt like I have them covered a long way from home.”

An $80,000 purchase by Enver Jusufovic/Gary Mudgway Bloodstock from the Noorilim Park draft at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, Pinstriped is the second winner from as many foals out of the winning Snitzel mare Snitzel Blitz.

A sister to stakes-placed Moreau, Snitzel Blitz has a 2yo filly by Shalaa (IRE) and a yearling colt by Written Tycoon who was a $150,000 purchase by Riversley Park from the Baramul Stud draft at the Magic Millions in January. Snitzel Blitz was covered by Capitalist last spring.
