One to Watch – Canterbury

Tara Madgwick - Friday January 7

This Capitalist three year-old was second in the Karaka Million last year and made a winning debut in Australia on Friday night at Canterbury.

Now trained by John O’Shea after previously being with Jamie Richards, Sneaky Shark has been in Australia for quite some time and has trialled several times before being recently gelded.

Sent out favourite for the 1100m maiden, Sneaky Shark showed his class to forge clear and win by a length.

Now that Sneaky Shark has broken the ice and has a win and three placings from five starts, he will surely be aiming up at better races during the autumn.

A $165,000 Karaka Book 1 purchase for David Ellis from the Hallmark Stud draft, he was sourced from the Blue Gum Farm draft at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale for the same price.

Sneaky Shark is the first winner for Hidden Attraction, a placed three-quarter sister to dual Group I winning sprinter Atomic Force.

Kingstar Farm will offer the full brother to Sneak Shark at Magic Millions next week.

Kingstar Farm will offer the current yearling from Hidden Attraction at Magic Millions as Lot 109 and he is a colt by Capitalist making him a full brother to Sneaky Shark.

Hidden Attraction has been a regular visitor to Newgate and had a filly by Cosmic Force last spring and was then covered again by Capitalist.

Sneaky Shark is the fifth metropolitan winner this week for Newgate Farm's Capitalist, who is the leading third season sire by winners and earnings and is also sharing the honours with Snitzel to be leading sire of three year-old winners with 29 on the board.
