First Winner for Gold Standard

The Luke Fernie-trained Sheeza Belter kick-started her career with a hugely impressive win in the Magic Millions Plate (1100m) on Perth Cup day at Ascot to credit her sire Gold Standard with his first winner.

Ridden by Clint Johnston-Porter,  Sheeza Belter came with a barnstorming finish to defeat the favourite Costume Party (A Lot) by one and a half lengths with a further three-quarter length back to Sofia's Symphony (Smart Missile) in third.

Sheza Belter races as a homebred for Mt Hallowell Stud, after failing to make her $50,000 reserve at the Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

She is the third winner from as many to race out of the winning Saxon mare Saxonbelle a half-sister to Group III ATC Southern Cross Stakes and Group III Newcastle JC Newmarket Hcp winner Special Reward, Group III WATC Sires' Produce Stakes winner Showy Chloe (Alfred Nobel) and Listed winner El Rijes (Eternity Range).

Sheeza Belter Is the first winner for Spendthrift Farms Gold Standard.

The Group II winning son of Sebring stood the first four years at  Spendthrift for a fee of $5,500. The handsome chestnut will look for a new home with the shock decision to close down the Australia operation.
