Celtic Vader Second Winner for Invader - Brother Heading to Inglis Classic

Mark Smith - Saturday December 11

The Richard and Chantelle Jolly-trained Celtic Vader opened her winning account at her second start in Saturday’s Aramis Plate at Morphettville to credit Aquis Farm’s Invader with his second winner.

Fourth behind Out Of Africa when on debut at Morphettville on November 27, Celtic Vader had that filly well astern at start two. Ridden by apprentice Angus Chung, Celtic Invader defeated the Rebel raider filly Sandpiper by three-quarter of a length with the Free Eagle (IRE) gelding Monseagle a short-neck back in third.

“She certainly benefited from her first start when she did a bit wrong,” Richard Jolly said.

uo;She had what was almost a solo jump out prior to that when nothing got near her and unfortunately did not learn anything.

“She is not real big and I think this is her time to capitalise in the next few months.

“She is a good doing filly so we will most likely keep her going.

“We found her in the back end of the (Magic Millions) sale. She is a nice short-coupled filly and is doing what we expected her to do.”

Both sales companies can claim a piece of Celtic Vader who was purchased by Hunter Bloodstock for $25,000 out of the Segenhoe Stud draft at the 2020 Inglis Australian Weanling Sale.

The chestnut daughter of Invader was then purchased for $75,000 by her trainers from the Valiant Stud draft at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

She is the third winner from four to race out of the Fastnet Rock mare Celtic Sea.

A half-sister to the Group III MRC Vain Stakes winner Tony Nicconi (Nicconi), Celtic Sea has a full-brother to Celtic Vader in the Bell River Thoroughbreds draft at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in February.

Bell River has fond memories of last years Classic when they sold an Invader colt for $375,000.

The Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Invader (Snitzel) has two winners from three to race.
