Pierro Youngster Goes Two for Two

Tara Madgwick - Saturday July 29
Promising Pierro gelding Poseidon's Pool made it two wins in as many starts when saluting at Morphettville on Saturday for champion trainer Darren Weir.

PierroA homebred for David Moodie's Hesket Bloodstock, Poseidon's Pool was a debut winner at Ballarat on July 13 and then kept the good work going to post his second success in the 1050 metre juvenile contest.

He found the line strongly to win by a length with the favourite Illumicon back in fourth place.

Poseidon's Pool is the first foal of Group III winning Exceed and Excel mare Kulgrinda and is one of eight first crop winners (one in South Africa)  for Pierro, who will be the Champion Australian First Season Sire for 2016/2017.

His star performer, Group III winner Tulip, looked strong in a jump out in Melbourne on Friday and the Hayes/ Dabernig trained filly looks primed for a good spring carnival.

Golden Slipper winner Pierro stands at Coolmore this season at a fee of $49,500.
