Progeny Setting Gold Standard

The 2YO progeny of Spendthrift Australai's resident sire Gold Standard have begun stepping out onto racetracks across Victoria and New South Wales with exciting reports.

Golden Queen
The first to make an appearance was Golden Queen, from the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable. Bred here on the farm and out of Queens Plaza (Elusive Quality {USA}), she was purchased by her trainers directly from the paddock during a farm visit. Finishing eighth and third in her previous trials this preparation, she won her trial at Randwick on Tuesday morning by 1.88l in a winning time of 1:04.78.

“Gold Standard was a very talented horse for us, and a beautiful horse to look at,” co-trainer Adrian Bott told TDN AusNZ after the trial.

“He had only the one preparation for us before going amiss, so we never really got to see the true ability of him, but I felt we had a good insight into him when this filly came along,” said Bott. 

Everylittle Breeze


The other 2YO to attract attention this week was our own Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained Everylittle Breeze (ex Whisper Louise {Ire}). Having her first jump out at Ballarat, she led all the way and held out Archie Alexander's Kumicho, who steps out in Saturday's Listed Merson Cooper S. She will only continue to improve from that effort and we should see her race debut before Christmas.



Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Gold Standard is a chiseled and impressive mirror-image of his sire Sebring.

He won the G2 Stan Fox S. plus was a runner-up in the stallion-making G3 Up And Coming S. before injury cut short his career. He is Breed Secure and VOBIS Sires eligible.
