First Winner for A Lot (USA)

Mark Smith - Thursday November 18

The Tapit stallion A Lot (USA) made the perfect start to his stud career when his first runner Costume Party made a winning debut over 1000m at Belmont on Wednesday.

Ridden by Chris Parnham for trainer Luke Fernie, Costume Party’s ability was no secret. She started an odds-on favourite off the back of a trial at Belmont on November 8 where she finished third behind Itsatrap.

Settled in third of four runners, Costume Party unleashed at the 200m. While Smile Alot (Galah) put up some token resistance at start number two, Costume Party came clear to win by one and a quarter lengths with Turkish Lad (Galah) a further one and three-quarter lengths back in third.

Bred by Mungrup Stud, Costume Party was purchased by her trainer for a sale-topping $50,000 from the Warwick Racing Dispersal at the 2021 Perth Winter Yearling Sale.

A half-sister to the talented Bragwell (I'm All the Talk), Costume Party is the second winner from as many to race out of the smart Oratorio (AUS) mare Princess Hallowell who hails from the family of the Group 1 QTC Stradbroke Hcp winner Rouslan (Ideal Planet).

Mungrup Stud, now known as Willaview Park, launched the career of A Lot (USA) in 2018 where he left 32 foals from 51 mares covered.

A 4-time winner including the Listed Paradise Creek Stakes on the turf at Belmont and placed three times in Grade stakes races, A Lot (USA) set a course record for seven furlongs on the grass at Belmont in the Elusive Quality Stakes

The son of Tapit was purchased by John and Jerry Amerman for $410,000 at the 2013 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

A Lot (USA) covered 61 mares at Willaview Park last season for a fee of $3,300 and remains at that price this year.
