A Little Less Hectic for Aussies on Day Two at Keeneland

Mark Smith - Friday November 12

Session two of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale is underway and it did not take long for the Australians to strike.

Lot 244 The Freedman brothers had the final say at US$250,000 for the stakes-winning Hard Spun (USA) filly She’s So Special.

The 4-time winner is a daughter of the Pulpit mare Born Special, this family made its mark in Australia through third dam Miss Bold Appeal (USA) who left the Group III VRC The Chivas Regal winner St. Petersburg whose half-sister Jersey Girl was a triple Grade 1 winner in the States.

St. Petersburg sired the dual Group 1 MRC Toorak Handicap Solzhenitsyn, while Jersey Girl produced the Cigar Mile winner Jersey Town.

Lot 338 The Freedman brothers struck again when going to $400,000 for the stakes-placed Shamardal mare Alnaseem (GB).

Bred by Shadwell Stud, Alnaseem (GB) was purchased by Blandford Bloodstock for 88,000gns at last year’s Tattersalls December Mares Sale.

Her dam Arwaah (Dalakhani) is a half-sister to Group III winner Laraaib out of the stakes-winner and multiple Group II placed Sahool (Unfuwain).

Lot 364 Julian Blaxland and Will Johnson Bloodstock went to $240,000 for the stakes-placed Pioneer Of Nile filly Blue Sky Baby.

She carried a positive test to Claiborne Farm’s Preakness Stakes winner War Of Will (War Front).

Lot 504 Kestrel Thoroughbreds and Boomer Bloodstock outlaid $280,000 for the stakes-winning Karakontie (JPN) filly Karak.
