One To Watch - Gosford

Breednet - Tuesday November 9

The bluebloods fought out the finish of the 1100m maiden at Gosford on Tuesday but it was the four year-old debutant mare that got the job done impressively.

Viennoiserie, a home bred for Gerry Harvey’s Baramul Stud was kicking her career off as a four year-old, having only seen the trials for the first time less than a month ago.

Despite drifting back to last around the tight Gosford track, and copping a buffeting rounding the home turn, the Kris Lees trained mare was still far too good, reeling them in strongly and going to the line with something in reserve.

By I Am Invincible, Viennoiserie becomes the fifth winner for Danehill mare Danoiserie, a daughter of Isolda (Sir Tristram), winner of the Gr.1 Champagne Stakes at two and three times Gr.1 placed including third in the Gr.1 Australian Oaks at three.

She proved too strong for the Godolphin runner, Ultra, a $600,000 yearling purchase and half-sister to boom sire Extreme Choice.

She remains winless after six starts although is getting close to putting winner next to her name to add perhaps a little more to what is obviously an appealing stud prospect.
